summer is still on, and the shop is open

I've had a few inquiries about the headbands and scarves I've made, and yes, I can make them in more colours aswell. :) If you're interested, please email me at avaramaiju (at) gmail.com, suggest a colour/combination you love from the colour lists below, and we'll talk business.

And this is me wearing them and looking completely underdressed alongside the smokin hot Alissa. Laundry: Top - Spanky, pants - H&M, shoes - Onitsuka Tiger, scarf and headband - selfmade.

Head- /Wristbands

I was so happy, when my colleague, Karo, told me that she's really satisfied with hers, 'cos she says this one stays on all day and doesn't give her a headache like those traditional hard headbands that press on your temples.

I have material in
*black
*sky blue
*light green
*lime green
*light pink
*salmon
*black/white
*red/white
*beige/white

I make them of jersey, so they're flexible. You can wear them either around your head like a traditional headband or in hippie-style, or as a wristband wrapped around your wrist a couple of times (like Rene does :)).

Shop & Shoppers
God gave us another sunny Sunday and the chance to sell and buy stuff. I baked some hot buns and grabbed the accessories I'd made, and we headed to Mauerpark again. Me and Saana were chillin' and listening to great beatboxers while Rene and Alissa found some bargains in the fleamarket.

Alissa and Saana with mojitos-to-go.

This mojito had the mint leaves replaced with more rum, limes replaced with lemons and included a free refill.

The business was still blooming as usual. :)

Bargains from the fleamarket.

"Are these shoes ugly or just cool?", she asked. "Both", I said.

Too bad the Zorro-moustache is gone, 'cos the look is still there.

Next time he'll het a denim stetson.

And I forgot to take a picture of myself, as usual. What do you think? I'm especially interested in a certain cardigan-wearing cigar-smoking gentleman's opinion on Rene's clothes.

We've been celebrating lately.

Thursday we went to listen to some Finnish bands with some new friends I found in Mauerpark last Sunday (so it wasn't all in vain dragging myself there dying of cold and poverty). I was happy with the gig, especially Rubik made me smile. And afterwars we stayed out like all night around Prenzlauerberg, which wasn't bad either.

The warmup was Murmansk. I liked the singer (on the right), she was tough and butchy, and had a strong voice.

Finn-fans.

Astrid Swan looks alot like my friend Anni. I miss her.

Rubik.

Astrid Swan's bassist was also Rubiks biggest fan and a really groovy dancer.

He later got some company from more funky movers.

Franzz is really not a club of the most intresting kind. I think you can get the idea from the toilet door.

The toilets in Zu mir oder zu dir are way better, don't you think?

The man without his beard.

Alissa had a really cool leather dress. I can't remember where it was from, though I asked her especially so I could tell you guys. If you're here A., please remind me.

No post without raw fish
Friday was my sister's birthday and we went for sushi in Sagano, on Olivaerplatz. The food was delicious, and they also had philadelphia cheese. I still wouldn't recommend this over our favorite place (Don Sushi), because it's a bit too west-berlin (meaning it's just too far), and the play NRJ (shit music only) in the background. Plenty of hearts for the teriyaki-sauce though! (I kept calling it yakitori-sauce all evening.)

The birthday-girl (in the middle) had been shopping all afternoon for skinny-skinny jeans and looked dispite the discomfort as fresh as ever!

After sushi we went to a tennis-club in Tempelhof for another birthday-party, where i was about to pass out of tiredness, until I discovered the sauna-section and made a little photo-expedition.

Laundry: top from Oasis, pants Herrlicher, belt from work, bracelett from mom from India :), purse from Steve Madden from Mexico.

This sign is so great in so many ways. The fact that it is directed to "Dear Sauna-friends", that it's a bit wrinkly from the moisture (or sweat of tennisplayers), and the way the guy who wrote it used MS Word and formatted it with bold, italic, a bigger bunch of exclamation points than you'd see in a Mexican girl's Facebook status, and different alignments and font sizes. And, of course, the fact that you need to remind those jolly good tennisplayers to take off their tennis shoes when they bathe.

raw fish and moustache

Do you ever think about how life just keeps repeating itself? Sometimes it feels like all I do is walk across the bridge to work or buy the same 2 kg German apples from the grocery store. I've done it so many times it feels unreal. Now, I've noticed that we sit in the same sushi restaurant all the time. We take all our friends there and never get tired of it.

Yesterday we were goin' there again, and our roommates, Sam and Jeo, were like "Oh shit, we're goin for sushi too, but we wanna go alone" (the unsocial bastards). Lucky for them, there's another one across the street! How cool is it to have 2 local sushi places around the corner? And they're both friggin good. Make your own comparison on Brückenstrasse 15 in Don Sushi, and Brückenstrasse 3 in Shochiku Sushi Bar.

The Philadelphia rolls in Don Sushi are my favorite, they're hard to find in Berlin. I always ask them with extra cheese. *Chuckles*

We ordered 'a few' things.

And 'cos they love us, they gave us an extra Sake-maki on the house. Heart!

People say this guy looks like Che Guevara, and he works in a Cuban bar, so everybody thinks it's somehow cute. I bet my dad wouldn't.

Don't gasp at Rene's and my incredibly tacky matching headbands, please. We weren't like that the whole time. Laundry of the day: top - Ginatricot, chain - Motivi, headband - self made.

Zorro

Later at home Rene shaved off his beard. El Che was gone and El Zorro came out! He's gonna hate me for publishing this one. :) I've been begging him to have a moustache, and now he did, for like 12 hours. Today he came to visit me at work all shaven and looking like he was 18 again. Creapy!

For my Finnish readers, as a bonus, some more Google Translator laughs from the previous post:

Dutch goods and bullet holes

My businesses didn't go as well as usual this weekend. Saturday I kinda exaggerated the baking for the vernissage and Sunday was a really rainy flea market day. I got a bit carried away, and somehow overdid the amount of pastries for the party, so now I have 2 whole banana cakes in the freezer. I already OD'd on it, so I can't eat anymore. It was about time to have some setbacks though, 'cos I have been extremely lucky so far selling out the stuff really fast most of the time. (If you can call having a freezer full of cake "a setback".)

Luckily, I got an extra order to cater another opening party yesterday, which was a really cool coincidense! A reader of mine, Helena, who passed by my first bake sale in May, asked me to make her a bunch of rice pasties to the opening of her store. Isn't that cool? I took the pasties to her shop Hot & Cold on Winterfeldtstrasse 47, which looked really cute. I need to go back on better time to check it out, because this time I just had to rush towards my fully multitasked Saturday-evening... it was a hectic weekend, but one of the best again. :)

Major events that have kept me happy lately:

1. Yvet was here!

I saw my friend Yvet for the first time in two years, when we spent a great summer together in Berlin ocasionally studying fashion together and mostly shopping, giggling, listening to Justin and getting to know folks from all over the world. She's Dutch, she has a great accent and I'm in love with her. She brought me a rediculously huge bag full of liquorice and syrup waffles. She's so invited back asap! :)))

A serious gift bag with goodies to keep me happy until Christmas!

I love the stroopwafels so much I could wrap myself into one and eat myself out.

Sam invited friends over for a Maroccan dinner (with French/Finnish starters).

We went to our crappy cornerpub Melancholie, and though they have a huge coctail menu, they never have any ingredients or know how to make the drinks. So we helped the bartender make us caipiroskas (with 12 cl vodka) and Irish coffees (whith Red Label), and she thanked us for it, and got a nice tip. We also stopped by in Tresor, and had breakfast at Anita Wronski (my fave in Kollwitzplatz).

Yarrrrr what a fox!

Laundry of the night: the tee is one of those wrinkly t-shirts that are squeezed into a little plastic cube from New York, skirt vintage from Berlin, leggins Ginatricot, boots vintage from Mauerpark, leather coat Bershka, scarf self made. Yvet's mostly wearing Kuyichi and Topshop, and looking smokin' hot!

The waitress asked me to go talk her through making our coctails. So they were sort of DIY caipiroskas, and pretty damn good ones too. :)

The cute ring says hoot hoot

Foosballer

I took alot of pictures of Yvet, because I couldn't take my eyes off her.

We really took everything we could from that poor new barkeeper.

Laundreee: Shirt Oasis, Necklace Turkish Market on Maubachufer, head thingy H&M.

Cheese-Ham-brekkie in Anita Wronski

2. Dieter & Thomas opening in pushGalerie

It was cool to meet the designers of the gun-bags. The bags were amazing! I really don't get it how they can get the forms molded into leather that well. The whole shop is full of cute cool little inventions, and finally I took some pictures of them. The party was succesfull and alot of people came. Even a reader of mine, who just moved to Berlin, came to visit. That was so sweet! :)

The proud mothers of the baby-purses.

My favorite with the lady sized revolver kind of just lying on the bottom.

Bullet holes. Get it? :)

Some more cute things in Push.

3. Fleamarket

The fleamarket, was a major waste of time, to be honest. You get to pay more (28 e) for the stand than in Finland (25 e) and it's outside, not very well covered from the rain and doesn't include chairs or a clothing rack. It was raining like hell, and I made something like 20 euros, man! In Finland I've usually made something from 100 to 350 e. I did make some really good fabric bargains from my neighbouring Turk though, and he even bought us coffees. :) Thanks, dude! I think we ended up going home with more stuff than what we brought. I guess I'll just stick to selling buns on my roommates ironing board.

I was freezing and Sams grandma's old hat was so friggin' hot it saved me from hypothermia. Jancsy and his dad bought a belt. :)

Rain.

Tools.

Flood.

We had to cover most of the stand, cos the rain found its way in...

Anyone up for some banana cake? Just come over :)
