Singing baker and her tiny little groupies

I'm so happy my bun business is still blooming, and didn't end when the summer did. The park is totally full of jolly people, because the weather is really warm for November (I guess I have to admit global warming has given me one direct benefit there) and they like to come sing and listen to Joe's karaoke*.

It's funny that my project started in May with a careful attempt of making like 20 buns and 15 pasties to a carneval in Kreuzberg, and now people are checking that I'll be back next Sunday in my usual place. I know most of my business ideas haven't been very succesful, but this really feels nice. People will always want food and warmth. And I'll always wanna give it to them. :)

These tiny frequent customers came for one at first, split it between each other (!), and then came back for a whole round of buns! HEART!!!

Olivia (my niece in the orange coat) was keeping an eye on the products for me. Anton helped me serve them, and eat them. :)

This time I went to sing an old favorite, Enter Sandman. Joe was coaching me on the way like: "Open your hair! Play the guitar!" And I did, of course. It was a big mess.

Aaaaw, I love those smiley faces in the audience! Especially a certain Mexican...

I had the best support from Anton and Olivia:

Laundry:
coat -
jeans - H&M
shirt - Motivi
boots - vintage from Mauerpark
scarf - I really don't own enough scarves (only like 20, but I just always wear this one). Fabric from Mauerpark (I seem to live there, work there, & shop there)

And here's the tasteful video of me and Joe making a manly duet. Sounds pretty grim, I'm surprised I didn't freak out my little listeners. Anton just came to tell me: "You sounded funny." :)

Absolutely loved that day!

Jolly good day for my portable café

Last two weeks I haven't had my bunshop. Well, actually 2 weeks ago I did, but it was too late and got dark so fast, that no one could see it. Last week I was flying from Finland on Sunday, so that was no good either. Now I was prepared, I went there early and I brought candles in case it would get dark again. I sold out before it did, though! :)

Mauerpark was in its colourful fall-outfit and full of happy people.

Kite and boy were stuck in a tree:

As the park got more crowded I started getting neighbors selling beer, Glühwein, corn etc.

Only a few buns made it to display, the rest are keeping warm in the thermos-bag. :)

Guess who finally got the courage to go sing? (Camouflaged pretty well in the pic)

And by 16 o'clock the park was full, and buns sold out. YIPPEE!

So next week, I'll try to be there before 14, (if it doesn't rain) and I'll bring even more buns and pasties, so you're not left licking your fingers (a Finnish saying). You can always email me to check on the latest agenda. Kiss!

Here's a little surprise to all you who missed this beautiful moment... LOL, I made my debut in Youtube! Oh dear god. I love it that Joe's backing me up and suddenly you hear a male voice going like "Yeeeah." I'm so confused about seeing myself like this right now, dunno weather I should laugh or puke. :)

Oh god, I just noticed how much people there were. I must've been in denial all the time (or just not seeing the crowd from under my cap), otherwise I would've thrown up and ran for my life. And hey, can someone tell me, do I always dance like Chandler Bing?

Arrey Kono in Rodeo & Hot chocolate in the park

1.jpg picture by avaramaiju

Last Wednesday we went to the Arrey Kono fashion show in Rodeo. The site was just perfect for a fashion show (or a wedding, or living, or anything, really, I just love that club). Unfortunately it was really packed, and they invited people through Facebook without any limitations, so it was packed, big time. We stood squeezed in the crowd while the personnel desperately tried to make room for more people and carry out tables through the tight pack of eager fashion viewers.

I didn't even manage to get into the room, I was clenched to the bouncers back throughout the show, and I could literally smell the shampoo he uses. The show was realy cool and I would've loved to see it closer. I did feel like one of those characters of a Candace Bushnell-novel where they move into a big city and try to crash into fashion parties and make a career in fashion. (In a way I technically am that person, except that I really don't mind being unknown and staying out of parties I'm not invited to. :))

Laundree of the night:
Top - H&M
sequen scarf - Glitter
purse - an oldie my mom gave me for playing dress up when I was a kid!
boots (barely visible) - Motivi

Cup of hot chocolate in the Setting sun

I've really wanted to keep up my cake-in-the-park-business, although the weather is getting colder. The cold doesn't seem to bother the people, though, who still come to the karaoke on Sundays, as long as they have a cup of hot Glühwein or a steamy corn on the cob to sooth the brisky cold. I recently had an idea to make hot chocolate milk with mint liquor for them, as a Finnish alternative. I also kept my buns in a thermos-bag, so they stayed oven fresh and hot for longer. And the people liked them. :) I'm so excited, next time I'll make more!

We had also visits from some dear friends and a surprising encounter with a Finnish rock-legend...

We ran into the Finnish punk-rock-legend Pelle Miljoona. Not only brilliant, but a really nice dude. I offered him a bun.

Later we hung out in Weinerei, it's a cosy place close to Zionskirche and Kastanienallee. You pay 2 € for the entrance and drink from a selection of wines (or in our case - a selection of really delicious juices, because we're trying to be healthy for a change!) and tip the staff as you leave.

summer is still on, and the shop is open

I've had a few inquiries about the headbands and scarves I've made, and yes, I can make them in more colours aswell. :) If you're interested, please email me at avaramaiju (at) gmail.com, suggest a colour/combination you love from the colour lists below, and we'll talk business.

And this is me wearing them and looking completely underdressed alongside the smokin hot Alissa. Laundry: Top - Spanky, pants - H&M, shoes - Onitsuka Tiger, scarf and headband - selfmade.

Head- /Wristbands

I was so happy, when my colleague, Karo, told me that she's really satisfied with hers, 'cos she says this one stays on all day and doesn't give her a headache like those traditional hard headbands that press on your temples.

I have material in
*black
*sky blue
*light green
*lime green
*light pink
*salmon
*black/white
*red/white
*beige/white

I make them of jersey, so they're flexible. You can wear them either around your head like a traditional headband or in hippie-style, or as a wristband wrapped around your wrist a couple of times (like Rene does :)).

Scarves
Are available in
*light pink
*salmon
*white
*aqua
*sky blue

Shop & Shoppers
God gave us another sunny Sunday and the chance to sell and buy stuff. I baked some hot buns and grabbed the accessories I'd made, and we headed to Mauerpark again. Me and Saana were chillin' and listening to great beatboxers while Rene and Alissa found some bargains in the fleamarket.

Alissa and Saana with mojitos-to-go.

This mojito had the mint leaves replaced with more rum, limes replaced with lemons and included a free refill.

The business was still blooming as usual. :)

Bargains from the fleamarket.

"Are these shoes ugly or just cool?", she asked. "Both", I said.

Too bad the Zorro-moustache is gone, 'cos the look is still there.

Next time he'll het a denim stetson.

And I forgot to take a picture of myself, as usual. What do you think? I'm especially interested in a certain cardigan-wearing cigar-smoking gentleman's opinion on Rene's clothes.
